DeSalme Leaving Hutchinson, Accepts Bartlesville Job

A notable name in junior college basketball is leaving to return home.

Tommy DeSalme has resigned as the head coach of Hutchinson Community College, accepting the head boys' basketball coach position at his alma mater, Bartlesville High School.

DeSalme says this was always a dream of his.

DeSalme was a crucial piece of the state championship teams in 1989 and 1991. He was all-state in his senior year at BHS, and was inducted into the Bartlesville Sports Hall of Fame last year.

He says he believes Bartlesville is a great opportunity.

DeSalme will replace Clent Stewart, who had been the Bruins head coach over the past ten years.

BHS Athletic Director Thad Dilbeck says it's a special hire with community ties.

DeSalme was officially introduced last night, and Hutchinson will immediately begin a national search for their next head basketball coach.
