The Kansas Department of Health and Environment Bureau of Waste Management announces the recipients of waste tire product grants.
These annual grants are awarded to local towns and schools across the state. The grants totaled $529,600.88 and were awarded to 51 organizations to fund projects that use recycled tire products, including playground surfacing and picnic tables. The grants are funded by revenue collected through the tire excise tax, a $0.25/vehicle tire fee.
Locally, the City of Altamont received $4,222, the City of Caney $11,922.21 and the City of Chetopa $7,842.
